The history of Ruqyah dates back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). After receiving divine revelations, he practiced Ruqyah as a means of healing and protection from harmful influences. This practice involved reciting specific verses from the Quran and invoking the names of Allah, empowering believers to seek healing through faith.
In the early Islamic community, Ruqyah was widely accepted and recommended as an important spiritual practice for maintaining health and well-being. Over time, various approaches to Ruqyah emerged, especially as Islamic teachings spread, leading to different interpretations and methods.
In modern times, Ruqyah has evolved and diversified. Some practitioners maintain traditional methods, adhering strictly to Quranic verses and prophetic traditions, while others have introduced alternative techniques, often blending them with contemporary healing practices. This variation leads to both the correct and incorrect ways of practicing Ruqyah.
The right way of performing Ruqyah involves reciting authentic verses from the Quran with a sincere heart, aiming for healing and seeking refuge in Allah alone. It is essential to ensure that the recitations are done with proper intention and knowledge, maintaining the sanctity of the Quranic words.
Conversely, the wrong way to approach Ruqyah can involve practices that deviate from the teachings of Islam, such as seeking assistance from jinn, using non-Islamic rituals, or misinterpreting Quranic verses. Such practices not only deviate from the original intent of Ruqyah but can also lead to spiritual harm and confusion among practitioners.
Ultimately, the essence of Ruqyah remains a profound connection to faith, emphasizing reliance on Allah's guidance and mercy for healing.
